If you are one of those who spend a lot of time outdoor, this is what I mean. However, you can also be the typical family which spends the time indoors looking outside. This suggests that you should plan and build your summer garden in a place where you can see it than just your neighbours. The next thing you need to keep in mind is that you have to avoid messing your lawn with too much of things or plants. Your summer garden should be in scale with your lawn. Try to keep your garden proportional and maintain it in such a way that the whole garden looks neat and taken care of rather than a part of it which looks well taken care of while the other looks sad. Also, consider the climate of your area before you begin the process of starting off with your own summer garden.

Another thing to take care of is that you should plan your summer garden carefully. It should never seem as if you do not have a perfect plan for you sweet little summer garden. If you want to achieve the best result then you need to plan and execute your plans in a very proper manner. In case of absence of a strong plan, your summer garden is sure to be a flop. So, if you desire to have best results, spend quality time in planning about the summer garden that you want to achieve.

The next thing which people tend to forget while planning the summer garden is the longevity of the plants that have been chosen to be planted in your summer garden. If you think you will not have the time to maintain these plants, then you should opt for buying plants which do not need much maintenance. While selecting plants, keep in mind the extent to which you can maintain them and take care of them. And do not buy plants just because they look good.

If you take a little effort and time towards appropriately developing your summer gardens as per your needs and tastes, you will be able to maintain a perfect summer garden for a very long time. And, do take out time to look out and take care of your plants.

Summer Garden- Landscape It Right!

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Quite many things should be considered as you plan and plant the summer garden. An important thing is natural landscape or the terrain of the lawn and the garden area. Whenever possible, it would be great to work with landscape than working totally against it or going towards extraordinary efforts in making changes to natural landscape of the lawn as one can quite easily and very beautifully plan the summer garden and go with flow working well along with natural terrain of the lawn and also garden area.

A way in which it can be accomplished is by taking quick surveys of the lawn. This would be more than any cursory visual survey. One would need to walk the lawn and the corresponding area in which the garden space is being planned to be implemented. You would need to measure terrains and take notes of the inclines and slopes. When one is at it, they must study the conditions of soil and check if there are areas which seem particularly inhospitable to plant. When such types of areas exist in the garden one must decide what should be done about them. We should check if it possible turning the patch into water feature or similar other attractive addition in the garden than having some bare patch in midst of flowers, plants, and vegetables.

One must also determine the right amount of shade a particular place would receive and, how shade can be created for those plants, flowers and vegetables when in the direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight suits well to few plants. This could be accomplished if we plant them creatively within shadows of plants, shrubs, and vegetables which grow quite taller or even by using the rocks for creating shade. Climbing vines on the trellises or the fences so as to create artificial shade is also suggested.
