When designing a garden you will need to take into account the amount of time you will have for maintenance. If you are not interested in spending time gardening and you want something low maintenance you could choose to have the area laid with decking, patio or gravel. For those that want a more natural looking outdoor space, grass is ideal. This requires more maintenance so if you choose this try a few tips on lawn care for your garden.

It is important to cut grass regularly. This is not only so that it looks tidy but also to keep it healthy. During warm weather it will grow very quickly and should be cut every week for best results. The need for cutting decreases in colder weather and in the winter you will hardly need to do it at all.

Grass needs regular water in order to stay healthy. If there has not been any rain for a week or two you should water it yourself. This allows the moisture in the soil to be replenished after the grass has taken it in. For best absorption in hot weather, prick the ground first so that the water can be absorbed more quickly by the soil.

Like water the grass also takes nutrients from the soil. If the nutrients become depleted the grass will not keep its healthy look. Nutrients can be replaced by feeding the lawn with a food product. These release nitrogen which helps keep a vibrant green color. Slow release nitrogen products maintain the effect over a longer period.

Do not let your outside space become over run with weeds. Pulling weeds regularly can help but sometimes this will not be enough. Try using a specialist weed killing product that does not kill the grass at the same time.

A well maintained garden is a pleasure to use. Keep your grass looking healthy with a few tips on lawn care. Regular maintenance is important to keep the area healthy and usable.

Having a lush green grass in Florida isn't unavoidably the best move to make, especially when your gardening data is awfully limited. Too many people spend all of the time focusing on the look and interior of their home, and have a tendency to leave the outside as an after thought. But the kerb-side look of your home also adds to its beauty and appeal. The daily hot weather we find in Florida means watering your lawn at the incorrect times or not providing the optimum amount of water to your grass could cause unsalvageable damage. Nevertheless do not let the above statement alarm you. Following these tips below should help you in achieving your goal and make your grass the envy of your neighbours.

Different parts of Florida experience differing types of climate, especially in the fall and winter seasons. So your location should have a bearing of how much watering you carry out on your grass. The further south that you live, the more extreme heat you'll experience and just like animals and people, your lawn will need to take in more water in the locations where we experience dry and hot heat, than they'd need in North Florida where the temperatures can be much cooler in winter and more rain comes down.

The type of soil that you have in your garden will also make a big difference in determining how much water your garden wishes. Soil that's claylike in characteristic is going to hold water miles better than sandy soil. Clay soil also had bad aeration, while sandy soil is the opposite and has good aeration. What this implies to the gardener is that soil that is sandy in nature is going to require far more frequent watering than claylike soil and these rounds of watering should be fairly short. Whilst claylike soil needs less frequent, but longer in duration bouts of water. The perfect type of soil is loamy soil which is somewhere between sandy and clay soil in characteristic and hold water and aerates adequately.

Another tip that many gardeners swear to is on the point of introducing earthworms to the soil below your lawn. This has the effect of helping the aeration. An organic type fertilizer may help with this. Something like a mushroom compost will do fine.

Avoid watering your grass in the most up to date part of the day, which is usually around lunchtime. Ideally you should water your grass just before or simply after nightfall. The cooler weather will permit the water to soak into the grass and soil, rather than evaporate because it's got a chance too.

Don’t plant too many trees on your grass, as these will vie with the grass for the moisture that they need.

As with anything in life, if you want a good result you're going to need to put effort and time into reaching your objectives, and having a lovely grass isn't different.

What do you do when you’ve got a poorly lit spot of land that will need grass? Don’t forget, there are particular kinds of grasses that are exclusively fashioned to thrive in shady areas of your lawn. They have evolved over many thousands of years to be best suited for poorly lit conditions, you ought to do your best to make use of this.

A nice example of this type of grass is fescue, however, you are able to still use standard grass seeds too in those poorly lit areas, but you need to be careful to use it properly, as well as keep up it’s general upkeep, because you will want to take care of grass in shaded parts of your plot of land in another way (and more professionally) than grass in wide open areas of land.

It is important to always mow the lawn at the correct length and consistency for the kind of grass you’re working with. A short search on the web will uncover all the details you’ll need to do so, but take into account if uncertain you really should ask a lawn care expert.

Water the grass deeply and prune or thin down close by trees to allow more natural light down onto the grass. In shaded areas grass demands as much sunlight it can possibly get. Prune, cut down, and basically rid the encompassing areas of pointless sunblocks for the grass, and contemplate mulch or shade-tolerant ground blankets for densely shady areas. For those who have heavily shaded spots in your lawn where the grass is thin, check with a lawn care specialist for advice on improving the lawn. Internet searches can be very good, but nothing at all bests the quality and quanity of the advice a lawn care specialist of multiple decades can supply.

To find out which of the above mentioned best-of-breed grasses will work for you communicate with a local lawn care expert or contact your local county extension service. They’ll be able to show you through experience which ones will work for your situation, as well as point you in the path of local suppliers for each.

Additionally you want to be cautious about combining different species together. For example, Fine Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass are generally advised for cold areas, but the two don’t go well alongside one another in the same lawn. Fine Fescue is a bunching grass, while Kentucky Bluegrass is a spreading-type grass. You’re going to find yourself with sections of fine fescue growing up out of your Bluegrass lawn and it’s going to look awful.

My neighbors are in awe over the finish of my lawn and I tell them, if you like what you see, go and get a Black and Decker for yourself. I am very happy and satisfied with the product.

I’m glad I didn’t go with a gasoline model. It doesn’t get any better. Once grass is trimmed however, and if you stick with using it weekly, this model will work out sufficiently. If you’re going to do a lot of edging I’d advise a heavier gasoline model. This edger exceeded my every expectation. It is powerful, easy to use, does a nice job and, best of all, it is very reasonably priced. Not so, I tried used the product but went back to the grass hog. Its okay for digging trenches – if that’s all you need it for. Good thing I bought an extra blade up front. I’m very satisfied.

If you care how your yard looks and don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on an edger, this is perfect. It will do the same job and more for more than the price.

It arrived very quickly, and it was very simple to assemble. I would recommend this edger.

I love this trimmer, it’s easy to handle and it does a great job. I purchased the LE750 to replace a B&D Edger that had finally (after decades) died.

It does what they say it does and no less. It works just fine for edging but I was impressed with the trenching feature. Anyway, I am very pleased with the overall tool. The only part I find lacking is the edge guide.

In fact, I was tempted to keep going and doing my neighbor’s lot! The Edge Hog was easy to assemble and I quickly learned how to use it even though I had no previous experience with edgers. The only drawback is the cord, but compared to the weight and size of gas edgers the cord is minimal. Powerful, does a good job on edging with option to do flower beds. Wish it could be cordless then will be easy to handle. It really puts a nice finishing touch on your yard if it’s edged. Granted you have to drag a cord around, but there is no heavy lifting, it’s lightweight, and it’s awesome.

I found it to be manageable. It cut a nice 1 1/2 inch groove that was easy to stuff the cable into.

I had never owned an edger until I bought this one. Marble Coffee Tables.

A heavy duty edger is required to maintain his large front and rear lawns. The Black and Decker fit the bill. Subsequent uses are smooth and easy to do. Do not mind the cord because my front walks and driveway are not that big.

A heavy duty edger is required to maintain his large front and rear lawns. The Black and Decker fit the bill. Subsequent uses are smooth and easy to do. Do not mind the cord because my front walks and driveway are not that big.

Only used it once, but very satisfied. Great little edger! So I’ve got to stay on top of my yard if I don’t want a “nasty-gram” from the lady who drives around and makes sure that all the grass is mowed and the shutters are painted. The B&D Edge hog and the replacement blades are a breeze to use. After trying again this summer, I gave up and bought the Black and Decker EdgeHog. Its main selling point was that it was electric and not gas. Repeat as you work. This gives smoother, sharper cut on the grass edge. The lawn had a bit of overgrowth over the concrete and that requires a little more attention and care. I recommend it highly.

Shipment arrived in original box that had been cut and opened then taped closed. The edger was dirty and had scratches on it. The hard part was crawling along the ground pushing wire into the trench. It also made the job go much faster than expected. Unfortunately, this is endemic in most products sold in America these days. Companies have greatly cheapened products, and manufacture them cheaply NOT to last long (planned obsolescence).

This has worked great for a year. Smells like something is burning and it stopped working. This is about as easy as it gets. No more gas and oil mix, no more new spark plugs, no more 15-20 pulls to get the engine to start, and it’s relatively quiet when running.

Unfortunately, after thirty years away from yard work, I had to start caring for my own lawn. I spent last summer, trying to figure out how to use a weed eater to edge my lawn.

It was really great! I think they should just include it in the box with the fencing materials. This might have something to do with me having the handle fully extended due to my height. It’s something the B&D engineers may want to look at when they redesign it in the future.

Be careful about dinging your concrete with this, it is very easy to want to shift positions with the edger and “set it down” on the concrete, which will put little chip-marks into it. QUIET GENERATOR.

Good Luck if you buy it. Funny thing is the B&D rep who was in the isle at Lowe’s gave great assistance and also commented to the fact that blades are available. Too bad for them I don’t lend tools to even family members. It is very quiet even at full blast power. I’m very happy with this purchase! Compared to using a string-trimmer for edging and this edger is much faster gives better results.

It’s comfortable (right height and adjustable), it gets the job done very well (my lawn looks great), and the powerful circular saw motor works unchallenged. Set up is easy, and getting a replacement blade is a snap. This edger has thoroughly impressed me. It has plenty of power, is easy to use, and is well built.

It’s just a simple to use machine that does its job well. I just walk around the edges now and the whole lawn is complete in only a few minutes.

When you are removing a lot of material, it is much easier to edge a dry lawn than a wet one. Removing 3-4 inches of wet dirt is not easy, but this unit was up to the task.

I have had this product for over four years and it has worked great. I have no complaints about this product and would recommend it to my friends.

It took one time to get the hang of it. A gas one would be more convenient, but for price I am ok with it.

This edger does everything we need it to. Creates a fine edge and is super easy to operate. The key trick that I found for myself is to lift the right side up, press the trigger, start the blades humming and then slowly sink it at the right spot. This way, the thing holds and doesn’t budge left or right. The wheels are on one side, the blade on the other. Therefore, it won’t work close to obstacles since you can’t reverse direction. Some reviewers questioned the power of this edger. I find it to be great….but feel that this may be unfair since I live in Florida and have soft sand for soil.

I have seen this model in home improvement stores for much more. Delivered as promised and in perfect condition. In the few places where the length of the lawn was short, the EdgeHog performed very well with one cut. I am very pleased with the results and am very happy with the performance of the EdgeHog.

I think it took me as long to rewind the cord as it took to edge the grass (total edging is about 200-225 linear feet). discount garage storage cabinets.

I’m glad I didn’t go with a gasoline model. It doesn’t get any better. Had I known there had been this much improvement I wouldn’t have waited for the old one to die. It does a great job at edging making it a quick and easy job. It does this much faster than a string trimmer and the result is much cleaner. I’ve used the Edge Hog a few times when the grass has grown over the walk so much that the edger has to chew through half an inch or more of thatch. The blade would still spin but I would get build-up in the protective shield around it. Cleaning it out was a piece of cake.

Currently, I have to go over it 2-3 times wasting my valuable time. I cannot recommend this unit.

Also, we were reluctant to purchase the edger because we have a much less than perfect lawn (roots, rocky areas). We ran into no problems other than clearing some roots out of the path of the edger.

I have used this edger only once and it seems to do a fine job. Have not used much too really provide a thorough evaluation results. I live in Florida and have St Augustine grass which is a southern species very similar to crabgrass in the northern states. Many of the roots grow horizontally on the surface of the soil and creep over pavement edges.

Since then I’ve had clean lines and works easily! For the price, this is the best edger! This is my first edger purchase, and so far so good. My big concern was power; I purchased a gas-powered week whacker because I had heard from a variety of sources that the electric ones were under-powered. I had to switch the handle to the other side and stand to the right of it so I could see–which I think the instructions probably told me, but I forgot. Once I got going, it was great.

Killed my back for years. I’m over 6′ 2″ and the weed eater version killed my back and took almost two hours to edge with. If you try and use it after watering your lawn or after a rain mud will clump inside the edger and clog it up. I have also found the first edge of the season, or the first time you use it if you haven’t ever edged your lawn, can be challenging for you and the edger.

It was one of the cleanest edges I’ve seen from an edger. I think the serrations on the blade really do help. First of all, I have never done edging on my lawn. It didn’t take me more than 3 minutes to figure out how good this edger works. You simply let it do its job literally.

Delivered as promised and in perfect condition. mig welding gas prices.
